Thing With No Name visits two Zulu women, Danisile and Ntombeleni, living with HIV/AIDS in South Africa, home to 63% of the world's HIV-infected population. Women become infected two times more than men and one in every six people are living with the disease. The region lacks the resources and support systems needed to effectively address the epidemic. Funerals occur daily and South Africa has over 1.2 million AIDS orphans. Danisile and Ntombeleni are prescribed antiretroviral therapy, medications that are critical to controlling the virus. Without the medications, those infected are more likely to experience opportunistic infections which can ultimately lead to death.
