The Young Victoria is a 2009 biographical and historical drama about Princess Victoria of Kent (Emily Blunt), a young and naive woman who had to find the inner strength necessary to lead a nation. Although she is the niece of King William IV (Jim Broadbent), Victoria is under the rule of her domineering, jealous mother, the Duchess of Kent (Miranda Richardson). She also has to deal with Sir John Conroy (Mark Strong), an equally assertive and overbearing comptroller. Victoria has always known that she might inherit her uncle's throne, but both her mother and Sir Conroy hope that the king will die while Victoria is still too young to take the crown.
