The Year Without a Santa Claus is a stop motion animation Christmas special directed by Jules Bass and Arthur Rankin Jr. and released in 1974. Mrs. Claus (Shirley Booth) is taking care of an under the weather Santa Claus (Mickey Rooney). Santa's personal physician tells Santa that he needs to take it easy around Christmas time. This leaves two elves, Jingle and Jangle in charge of finding Christmas spirit. They head to Southtown, USA but are quickly in over their heads. They disguise Vixen as a dog and get arrested. Meanwhile, Mrs. Claus is trying to get Heat Miser (George S. Irving) and Snow Miser (Dick Shawn) to stop fighting and allow a Christmas show to be put on.
