The World for Ransom

The World of Ransom is a 1954 action film directed by Robert Aldrich. It is the continuation of the television adventure series "China Smith". The story goes when Mike Callahan (Dan Duryea), an Irish immigrant and a war veteran working as a private detective in Singapore, was hired by his former girlfriend (Marian Carr) to investigate the suspicious activities of her husband Julian March (Patric Knowles). Still in love with his former flame and wanting to win her back, he accepted her request. From his investigation, he finds out that Julian, together with a man named Alexis Pederas (Gene Lockhart) plots to kidnap Sean O'Connor (Arthur Shields). O'Connor is one of the world's most prominent nuclear scientists and one of the only three men in the world knowledgeable to detonate an H-Bomb. Julian and Alexis plans to hold O'Connor for ransom in exhange for a huge sum of money. Otherwise, Singapore will be destroyed to the ground by a big nuclear explosion. MORE [EDIT]
