The Waterboy is a screwball comedy about a dim witted water boy who finds he has a surprising football talent. Bobby Boucher (Adam Sandler) is a 30 year old lame brain who has always lived a sheltered life at home with his over protective and slightly crazy mother Helen, "Mama" Boucher (Kathy Bates). Due to the story she has always told him of his father dying of dehydration in the desert, Bobby has dedicated his life to becoming a water boy, working for The University of Louisiana Cougars football team. However, Bobby constantly endures torment from the players, with no defense from their coach Red Beaulieu (Jerry Reed), who in fact fires him one day without warning for disrupting practice.
