The Unbearable Lightness of Being is a 1988 romantic drama starring Daniel Day-Lewis, Juliette Binoche, and Lena Olin and based on the novel of the same name by Milan Kundera. The film tells the story of three Czech intellectuals engaged in an active love triangle during the Prague Spring and the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia. Day-Lewis plays Tomas, a brilliant brain surgeon and habitual womanizer who maintains two steady and loving relationships. Binoche plays Tereza, Tomas' love, who lives with Tomas and tries to understand his lifestyle.
