The Two Jakes is a 1990 drama that continues the story of private investigator Jake Gittes (Jack Nicholson), star of the legendary film Chinatown. Suspecting that his wife is cheating on him, Jake Berman (Harvey Keitel) decides to hire Jake to obtain proof that his wife is committing adultery. The two men set up a sting to catch her in the act, during which Berman shoots and kills his wife's lover. It turns out that her lover is, in fact, Berman's business partner. Gittes comes under investigation for his role in the killing, with the police trying to determine if it was murder or justifiable homicide.
