The Third Man, directed by Carol Reed, is a 1949 film noir. Pulp novelist Holly Martins (Joseph Cotten) travels to Vienna to meet his friend Harry Lime (Orson Welles) and start a new job. When he arrives at Harry's apartment, he learns that Harry was killed by a truck while crossing the street and that his funeral is being held that day. Holly rushes to the cemetery, where he notices a beautiful young mourner. After the service, Major Calloway (Trevor Howard), a British police officer, takes Holly out for a drink and reveals that Harry was a notorious racketeer and murderer.
