Produced in 2008, The Spiderwick Chronicles is the film adaptation of the bestselling children's novels of the same name written by Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi. Directed by Mark Waters, the story finds twins Simon and Jared Grace (both played by Freddie Highmore) and their family as they move to the Spiderwick Estate in New England. When strange things begin to occur, the family discovers an alternate universe filled with fairies, goblins, and other unknown creatures. The Grace family blames all of these odd occurrences on Jared, but when Simon, Jared, and their sister Mallory (Sarah Bolger) do a bit of research, they realize they've only hit the tip of the iceberg of the secrets hidden within Spiderwick Estate.
