The Sorcerer's Apprentice is a 2010 fantasy adventure starring Nicolas Cage as a master sorcerer. Once the apprentice of Merlin (James A. Stephens), Balthazar Blake (Nicolas Cage) has the responsibility of safeguarding a container that holds the world's worst wizards imprisoned. His nemesis, Maxim Horvath (Alfred Molina), also schooled under Merlin, but has turned evil and now wants to release the evil into modern-day Manhattan for his amusement. Balthazar recruits the unlikely Dave Stutler (Jay Baruchel), a NYU physics student, as his prot''g'' and immediately begins Dave's instruction in battling the forces of evil.
