The Rescuers Down Under is the 1990 Australian Outback set beloved sequel to the popular first animated film. Bob Newhart and Eva Gabor reprise their roles from the original as rodents Bernard and Miss Bianca that respond to a distress call from The Australian Outback. A young boy named Cody lives in Australia and goes around befriending many different species of animals. This includes the great giant golden eagle named Marahute. However Cody is soon captured by an evil poacher named Mcleach (George C. Scott, Patton, The Hospital, Angus, Dr. Strangelove or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb), who is after the golden eagle. It is up to Bernard and Bianca to rescue Cody and the golden eagle. Aided by daffy albatross Wilbur, well-played by John Candy, Uncle Buck, Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, Stripes, Home Alone, Wagons East), the pair make their way 'down under' and tangle with the sinister poacher. The poacher is aided by a not-too-bright salamander named Joanna (Frank Welker). The exchanges between the poacher and his aide are hilarious, making the lizard one of the film's strong points.MORE[EDIT]
