The Reckoning is a film made in 2004 by director Paul McGuigan (Lucky Number Slevin, Gangster Number One) and stars Paul Bettany (Legion, Master and Commander, Far Side of the World), Willem Dafoe (Spider Man, American Psycho), Vincent Cassel (Ocean's Twelve, Mesrine Series), Gina McKee (Mirrormask, Scenes of a Sexual Nature) and Brian Cox (Manhunter, Coriolanus). Music for the film was composed through the joint efforts of Mark Mancina and Adrian Lee. The plot of the film revolves around a young priest (Bettany) who suffers from guilt both sexual and religious after being caught in a affair with a member of his congregation. He flees his home due to persecution and joins up with a traveling troupe of actors who perform morality plays. They shortly arrive in a strange town with a half finished castle where a woman is being tried for the murder of a young boy. But the more the priest looks into the matter the more innocent she seems and the more his troupe wishes he would let well enough alone.
