The Rack is a dramatic 1956 film directed by Arnold Laven. It follows the character of Captain Edward W. Hall Jr. (Paul Newman) who is a career soldier. He is being tried by the military court for collaborating with the enemy during the Korean War. Captain Hall is the son of a famous career officer, Colonel Edward W. Hall Sr. (Walter Pidgeon), and he is tainting his father's reputation with his court date. He swears that he is innocent, and tries to find a lawyer that will take his case. Finally, Major Sam Moulton (Wendell Corey) decides to take his case and a courtroom drama begins to unfold.
