The Quick and the Dead is a 1995 western starring Sharon Stone as The Lady, a mysterious gunslinger who rides into the town of Redemption in the year 1878. The town is ruled by John Herod (Gene Hackman), a ruthless killer who runs the town with an iron fist. The Lady enters the town's single elimination gunfighting contest, a potentially deadly game with a $123,000 prize for the last man-or woman-standing. In Redemption, men are quick to fall in love with The Lady, and everyone has a tragic back story. Perhaps none are as tragic as The Lady's, though, who has secretly entered the contest so she can take a shot at Herod, the man responsible for her father's death.
