The Princess Bride is a comedic fantasy film from 1987 directed by Rob Reiner and based off William Goldman's 1973 novel of the same name. The main narrative of the movie is told as a story from a grandfather (Peter Falk) to his sick grandson (Fred Savage), and the two frame the movie and interrupt during various scenes. The grandfather's story focuses on Buttercup (Robin Wright Penn), a young woman who falls in love with her farmhand, Westley (Cary Elwes), who answers her every demand with, "As you wish." When Westley leaves Buttercup's farm to search for money so that they can get married, he is attacked by the Dread Pirate Roberts and is believed to be dead.
