The Pope's Toilet

The Pope's Toilet takes place in a small town in Uruguay around the 1980's. Pope John Paul II is scheduled for a visit in order to bless the town, as well as its inhabitants and those who are making a pilgrimage there for the honor of seeing his holiness. This is extraordinary news for the town's inhabitants, as it is an area stricken with poverty and a lack of natural resources. Beto (Cesar Troncoso) sees this as an enormous financial opportunity and sets out to invest in facilities that will surely be needed by travelers. As the time grows near, the media is in a flurry and promises thousands of visitors to this small town. Unfortunately, the Pope's travel plans are not as public as everyone thinks. After only a few hundred travelers are present, Beto begins to realize that he has squandered all the money from his daughter's college fund to pay for this ordeal.
