The Plague Dogs, which is based on a novel by Richard Adams, is a 1982 animated adventure film directed by Martin Rosen. In an animal research facility in England, a black laborador-mix named Rowf (Christopher Benjamin) and a fox terrier named Snitter (John Hurt) are repeatedly subjected to torturous experiments. With utter disregard for the lives of the dogs, the scientists often dunk Rowf in a water tank until he faints and do unnecessary surgeries on Snitter. When a worker in the kennel forgets to latch Rowf's cage one night, Rowf and Snitter are able to escape and go into the wild.
