The Passenger

The Passenger is a 1975 dramatic romance mystery directed by Michelangelo Antonioni. In the film, David Locke (Jack Nicholson) is a television reporter on assignment in Africa as a war correspondent. Soon after arriving, Locke becomes frustrated with the assignment. The weather is terrible, the country is filthy and he cannot locate the war he is supposed to be covering. When exhaustion and frustration become too much, David returns to his hotel. When he arrives he finds an unexpected surprise in the occupied room next to him. David had met the man earlier in the day and suspected he was into shady business. His suspicions prove correct when the man ends up dead. David knows he should do something, tell somebody about the man's death, but instead he sees this man's untimely demise as his opportunity to start his life over.
