The Mothman Prophecies is a psychological thriller film directed by Mark Pellington that centers on a Washington, D.C. reporter John Klein (Richard Gere) whose life turns upside down when a car accident reveals his wife Mary’s (Debra Messing) fatal brain tumor. Both before and after Mary’s death, John had been hearing stories of her visions of a black winged creature, a vision shared by the inhabitants of a small town of Point Pleasant, West Virginia.
