The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean is the celebrated 1972 western directed by the great John Huston (Treasure of the Sierra Madre). Roy Bean is a bank robber who rides into a small Texas town full of himself and his own toughness. Minutes after entering a bar he finds himself robbed, tied to the back of a horse and driven out of town. He returns with a gun and shoots his way through the bar until everyone is either dead or has fled town. With the Mexican peasants left, Bean sets himself up as judge and ruler of the land and takes the former brothel as his courtroom and barroom. He sits alone until a group of bandits point out the money to be made in lawing ' perhaps seizing the assets of anyone they 'arrest' and hanging them to avoid any confusion over ownership. Bean is won over by the suggestion and soon his town is built on his rule of law and legal knowledge.MORE[EDIT]
