The Left Handed Gun is a western film directed by Arthur Penn adapted from Gore Vidal's teleplay The Death of Billy the Kid that centers on the hotheaded gunslinger William Bonney (Paul Newman) as he goes on murderous spree in a bid to seek revenge for the murder of a kind rancher. William, or rather as he is known by others and by history as Billy the Kid, was pretty much trouble. Illiterate, quick-tempered, and slightly gun-happy, Billy took on the wild west with a temper and a dark attitude. When he finds kindness in the likes of a rancher named Tunstall (Colin Keith-Johnston), Billy learns that even the kindest of men have their enemies as Tunstall is murdered by a corrupt sheriff and his henchmen.
