The Last Boy Scout

The Last Boy Scout is a 1991 action drama where a former Secret Service agent and retired pro quarterback team up to investigate the murder of a stripper. Joe Hallenbeck (Bruce Willis) begins the film on a downward slope in his life as alcoholism has stripped him of his status as a top-of-the-line Secret Service agent. Now working as a lowly detective, he soon discovers his wife (Chelsea Field) is also having an affair with his best friend. Joe soon sobers up, however, when he is initially hired to protect a stripper named Cory (Halle Berry) and then later sees her get gunned down as a victim of a violent death. Cory's boyfriend, former pro quarterback and illegal gambler Jimmy Dix (Damon Wayans), soon joins Joe on the case as both men feel there is more to the story than they are being told. Clues eventually lead to a bigger scandal involving a corrupt NFL team owner (Noble Willingham) who is paying off legislators to legalize gambling in the league and threatens the future of professional football.
