The King and I

The King and I is an animated musical film directed by Richard Rich that is adapted from Rodgers and Hammerstein's musical of the same name that centers on the clash of two worlds as strong-willed and independent English schoolteacher Anna Leonowens (voiced by Miranda Richardson) and the equally stubborn and domineering King of Siam (voiced by Martin Vidnovic). Having traveled all the way from England with her young son Louis in order to tutor his many children, Anna finds herself at odds with the broken promises and harsh rulings of the King, who equally dislikes Anna's educated and not-so-easily manipulated will. As she continues to teach his children about independence and hope, the King has more problems to deal with as his priest, The Kralahome (voiced by Ian Richardson), uses his illusion abilities to attempt to overthrow the King and take over Siam for himself. A much-loved classic, the King and I is based on a true story of an English teacher whose influence on the King's children led to the King's son's slavery reform. MORE [EDIT]
