The Kid

The Kid is a silent movie that focuses on one man's fight to keep a child he loves as his own. The film begins with an unwed mother (Edna Purviance) leaving the hospital with her newborn son. Realizing she cannot take care of her son, she leaves him in the back of a car with a note that begs the recipient to take care of him. Two thieves steal the car and when they realize the baby is in the backseat, they leave him on the street. A small town crook, The Little Tramp (Charlie Chaplin) finds the baby. At first, he is not thrilled with the idea of taking care of a child. However, he soon warms up to the newborn and names him John. Five years go by and The Little Tramp looks at John as his own son. However, a visit to the doctor reveals that John is not his son and he is asked to give the boy to an orphanage. The Little Tramp is willing to do whatever it takes to fight for John, even if it means fighting for the boy he adores. MORE [EDIT]
