Historic Pubs of Dublin is a 2008 PBS travel documentary that brings attention to some of Dublin's most storied drinking establishments. Ireland has long been famous for its production of fine beers and whiskeys, so if there is one thing it has in spades, it would be pubs. The capital's oldest (where age in tallied in centuries) are known for both their classical atmospheres and for the quality of their pints. Led by late Pulitzer Prize-winning author Frank McCourt, the film takes a tour around the city, soaking in the sights and sounds of a proud drinking tradition. In addition to the pubs, attention is paid to other significant sites in Dublin, including Jameson Distillery, Guinness Brewery, Trinity College, Dublin Castle, Grafton Street, St. Patrick's Cathedral, city parks, and more. With a keen eye for detail, McCourt illuminates the informative and entertaining histories of these sites and how they tell the story of Ireland itself.MORE[EDIT]
