The Great Outdoors is a 1988 slapstick comedy starring Dan Aykroyd and John Candy as battling brother-in-laws on a family vacation. Chet Ripley (John Candy) wants to sing songs around the campfire with his wife, Connie (Stephanie Faracy), and two sons at a lakeside resort. His ideal vacation is fishing and enjoying the casual delights of the outdoors. His perfect plans take a nosedive with the unexpected arrival of yuppie Roman Craig (Dan Aykroyd), Connie's brother. Roman brings along his uptight wife, Kate (Annette Being) and their two spoiled daughters.
