The Gay Divorcee is a beloved 1934 black and white musical comedy showcasing the enduring talents of everyone's favorite dance team Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. This is probably one of their best, equaling Top Hat in this Astaire-Rogers series. The thin plot revolves around Mimi (Rogers) going with her eccentric aunt (played with memorable timing by Alice Brady, My Man Godfrey, Old Mr. Lincoln, In Old Chicago) to lawyer Eggbert (Edward Everett Horton, Lost Horizon, Arsenic and Old Lace, Shall We Dance). It seems that Mimi wants to divorce her husband and Horton hires a correspondent, an Italian gigolo Rodolfo (Erik Rhodes, Top Hat, Charlie Chan in Paris), who does this for a living to provoke her husband.
