The First Texan follows a solid storyline featuring Lawyer Sam Houston (Joel McCrea) who moves from Tennessee to Texas in order to start a new life without politics and stress of his past. His plan is interrupted by both current events and the government itself as the President orders him to aide in the fight for independance of Texas. Houston gains notoriety throughout the movie, becoming the first governor of Texas, then a senator, then governor yet again once the state is an official member of the Union. In spite of his desire to remain anonymous, Houston is again thrust into the spotlight as a hero, making a great effort to frustrate Santa Ana during the conflict, resulting in the battle of The Alamo, which is portrayed in a MORE [EDIT]
