The Fanny Trilogy -- Fanny is the second film in the trilogy that is based on the play by Pagnol. In this installment the young Fanny (Orane Demazis) finds out that she is pregnant. She grows scared because her lover and the father of her child, Marius (Pierre Fresnay) has left her so that he can live on the sea as an adventurous sailor. Marius has signed up to be a sailor for the next five years on a ship that is sailing across the Indian Ocean. Once Fanny finds out that she is pregnant she feels as though she only has a few options; she could commit suicide, raise the child on her own, wait for her lover Marius, or marry another man, Honore Panisse (Fernand Charpin).
