The Big Empty is a science fiction thriller John Person (Jon Favreau) is an out of work actor in Los Angeles, with close to $30,000 in debt. With no job in sight, things seem hopeless. However, John's oddball neighbor, Neely (Bud Cort), barges into his apartment and offers him a job. John will receive $25,000 to deliver a large blue suitcase to Cowboy (Sean Bean) at a truck stop in Baker. John doubts Neely's proposition, but Neely pulls out an in-depth dossier on John. John negotiates to do the job as long as it covers his exact debt. Once he goes to the desert, he encounters strange people.
