The Ballad of Jack and Rose is a 2005 drama from writer-director Rebecca Miller and starring Daniel Day-Lewis in a story about a father and daughter pair whose years of isolation on an island commune have given them both an askew view on family, love, and death. Day-Lewis plays Jack Slavin, a middle-aged farmer who has lived a hermetic life on an island for years. His only companion is his daughter, Rose (Camilla Belle), who has a particularly naïve perception of the world around her due to her years growing up on the counter-culture commune island.
