The Aviator

The Aviator is a 2004 biographical documentary directed by Martin Scorsese. The film chronicles the life of Howard Hughes (Leonardo DiCaprio) from 9-year-old mamma's boy to reclusive billionaire plagued by a psychological disorder known as obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). In 1927, Hughes is living in California when he inherits a fortune. He decides to enter the relatively new field of motion pictures, deciding to produce and direct the film Hell's Angels. Obsessed with creating a realistic film, Hughes runs way over budget. Despite his critics, the film becomes a huge success and the legend of Howard Hughes is set in motion. As his fame grows, Hughes begins a romantic relationship with Katherine Hepburn (Cate Blanchett). When Hughes enters the field of aviation, he attacks it with the same passion. From early success with U.S. Air Force contracts, Hughes builds an airline empire with Trans World Airlines (TWA). Hughes' success, however, is short-lived as his OCD begins to take control of his life. Despite his fortune, Hughes must face his final battle alone. MORE [EDIT]
