Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation

In this film written and directed by Ken Henkel (who also wrote the first three movies), Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation starring actors Matthew McConaughey and Renee Zellwegger, you find the fourth edition (the third sequel) of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre film series. The movie begins with a group of teenagers on their way home from their high school prom, deciding to take a back road. This quickly becomes the start of their trouble for the night. They are taken by a family of crazies and the violence begins right away. It seems Barry (Tyler Cone) and Sean (John Harrison) are on the family’s first to go list, and then they settle their sights on the slightly slutty Heather (Lisa Newmyer). But, Jenny (Zellwegger) must have a will to survive, as she seems intent on almost escaping the crazy kin on more than one occasion. McConaughey is the mechanical bad guy, Vilmer is an ideal backwoods, backward psycho and Robert Jacks is back in the cast to play Leatherface, the creepy, crazy that has a wardrobe full of skin in the basement. And, never fear, Leatherface has his trusty chainsaw in tow as well! While the rest of Leatherface’s family seems to be relatively all new characters, they still have the same cannibalistic appetite. Many of the scenes in the movie will remind you of the original 1974 Texas Chainsaw Massacre, like the family dinner with corpses, Leatherface turning circles in frustration with his chainsaw, and the infamous meat hook but most otherwise the graphic details are pretty original to the sequel. The movie was made before McConaughey and Zellwegger were names in the Hollywood scene, so after they achieved their individual fame the film was cut and edited and then re-released again in 1997 with a limited theater booking.
