Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song

Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song is a 1971 crime/thriller written and directed by Melvin Van Peebles. Sweetback (Melvin Van Peebles ) is a young African American sex worker who manages to stay out of trouble with the law. When a body of a dead black turns up dead, the police struggle to find a suspect. Sweetback reluctantly agrees to help two of his connections on the force. They have been helpful to him in the past and might be again in the future, if they can bring someone in for questioning. By simply going to the station, Sweetback helps the police save face while also insuring that he won't be harassed while working. The plan goes terribly wrong soon after arriving at the station. Sweetback witnesses two officers brutally beat another young man. Sweetback attacks and kills the two officers, then takes flight. The ensuing manhunt chases Sweetback across Los Angeles as he tries to make it to Mexico. MORE [EDIT]
