Sweet Land is a romantic drama that deals with true love and the hardships imposed on people of differing cultural backgrounds. Immediately following World War I, Inge Altenberg (Elizabeth Reaser) moves from her home in Norway to Minnesota in order to marry. Orphaned at a young age, she does not know much about her past but is looking forward to her new life. Olaf Torvik (Tim Guinee) is a farmer of Norwegian descent and the arranged husband for Altenberg. Alternberg learns that even though she was raised in Norway, she was actually born in Germany. Torvik is very satisfied with this arrangement, until he and the other villagers learn about Altenberg's true origin. In an effort to bridge the gap between herself and her new neighbors, Altenberg attempts to become a properly documented immigrant. Imagine her horror when she finds that she has inadvertently become a member of the American Socialist Party. Torvik and Altenberg begin living together and soon discover that true love knows no boundaries. Ali Selim directs this 2005 film.MORE[EDIT]
