Super Fly is one of the first movies that broke ground in the blaxploitation era of film. Made in 1972, one year after Shaft, Super Fly also helped introduce the idea of the urban black man pitted against "the Man," referring to the mainly white law enforcement establishment. Priest (Ron O'Neal) is a cocaine dealer in Harlem who is slowly realizing that his life will end in one of two ways: prison or death. He decides to make one final, huge score and then leave his drug-dealing life behind. Priest decides he needs 30 kilos of cocaine to make the money he needs for his retirement, but his normal suppliers can't provide him with that much.
