Splash is a romantic comedy about a lonely man who falls in love with a mermaid. The film opens with a young boy falling off a ship in Cape Cod and seeing a mermaid underwater. They connect instantly and, years later, we learn that Allen Bauer (Tom Hanks) never really got over her. With his brother, Freddie (John Candy) he runs a successful produce business in New York but is chronically unlucky in love. After his most recent breakup, he drives to Cape Cod to relax. While there, he gets in a boating accident and nearly drowns, but is rescued by the same mermaid he saw years earlier. Calling herself Madison (Daryl Hannah), she returns with Allen to New York and the two begin a passionate love affair. Unknown to them however, is MORE [EDIT]
