Spinning into Butter is a 2008 movie directed by Mark Brokaw and based on a play written by Rebecca Gilman. Belmont College, a liberal place, has a new problem. Racism has appeared. The heads of the college give The Dean of Students, Sarah Daniels (Sarah Jessica Parker), the job of finding who placed hate material on a colored student's dorm room door. When the hate material elevates to a more vicious level the campus explodes with racial tension. The media arrives to report what is going on, and what the college is doing about it. Sarah, who transferred to Belmont from a school in Chicago, is secretly afraid and prejudiced against black people.
