Something to Cheer About is a 2002 documentary film by Betsy Blankenbaker. For the Crispus Attucks Tigers basketball team of Indiana, 1955 was an important year. It was the first time in history an all-black high school basketball team won the state championship title. In Something to Cheer About, documentary filmmaker Betsy Blankenbaker sets out to catch up with the original stars of a team that made history. She meets up with Oscar Robertson, an NBA champion, as well as Hallie Bryant, an ex Harlem Globetrotter. She intersects lengthy chats with the players with clips and footage of the game. Additionally, the film provides an inspirational story of an underprivileged area which overcame racial barriers and stereotypes by boosting morale. Something to Cheer About provides a lens into a specific time in history. What is not to love about a film so rich in culture, history, music, and story? If you've ever been curious about the kind of environment that creates a star, be sure to watch Something to Cheer About. It will leave you wanting more.MORE[EDIT]
