Slipstream

Slipstream is a 2007 American science-fiction drama starring, written, scored and directed by Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins. The film's storyline centers on an aging screenwriter named Felix Bonhoeffer (Anthony Hopkins). Bonhoeffer is working on a murder-mystery screenplay containing random acts of brutal violence and begins to see himself in the reality of his screenplay. As Bonhoeffer starts to appear in the reality of his fictional screenplay, characters from the screenplay begin to appear in his real day-to-day life. The movie Bonhoeffer is writing focuses on a couple of low-life thugs (Christian Slater and Jeffrey Tambor) who terrorize a roadside diner after Slater's character has murdered a barkeeper. Bonhoeffer's fantasies begin to fill his computer screen as he types, and he sees visions of a screaming studio boss (John Turturro) living in his hard drive. Slipstream's unique avant-garde narrative hops, skips and jumps forward and backward through time. As Bonhoeffer loses himself inside his imagination he finds himself beginning to remember his own future. Slipstream blurs the line between reality, imagination, time, dreams, madness and death.
