Singles is a romantic comedy that follows the lives of a group of loosely interconnected friends living in an apartment complex in Seattle. Janet Livermore (Bridget Fonda) is a waitress who is in love with a rock musician, Cliff Poncier (Matt Dillon) who won't fully commit to her and whom she constantly fails to please. Her neighbor, Steve Dunne (Campbell Scott) is trying to make a new romance work with a woman he recently met named Linda Powell (Kyra Sedgwick) despite the fact that she may soon be leaving town. Meanwhile, another neighbor, Debbie Hunt (Sheila Kelley) repeatedly goes on awful dates in an ongoing and slightly pathetic effort to find Mr. Right.
