Scott Joplin tells the true life story of Scott Joplin, the greatest ragtime music composer of all time. Scott Joplin (Billy Dee Williams, The Empire Strikes Back) overcomes the racism of the music industry of the late 19th century. He not only breaks into the business, but even manages to hit it big with the ragtime song "The Maple Leaf Rag." Unexpectedly, ragtime becomes incredibly popular, and Joplin rides the wave of his newfound fame to great success. Despite his good fortune, Joplin longs to find acceptance in a more traditional genre outside of ragtime.
