Roxanne is a 1987 romantic comedy that is a modern adaptation telling of the successful 1897 play Cyrano de Bergerac, by Edmond Rostand. The screenplay is written by Steve Martin and is set in a small Pacific Northwestern town. The film follows C.D. Bales (Martin) who is a charismatic, acrobatic, and skilled Fire Chief, poet, and all around handyman. But there is one big thing different about C.D. He has a gigantic nose, a nose that he is violently sensitive about. It just so happens that C.D. has fallen crazy in love with Roxanne Kowalski (Daryl Hannah), a beautiful young astronomer.
