Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead is a clever, witty and deep film derived from the play of the same name. Inspired by two minor characters from Shakespeare's "Hamlet," it is written and directed by Tom Stoppard (Shakespeare in Love). Rosencrantz (Gary Oldman) and Guildenstern (Tim Roth) enter Hamlet's castle. They watch scenes and events drawn from "Hamlet," but do not fully understand what is going on, although viewers familiar with Shakespeare know exactly what is happening.
