River Of No Return is a Western film that follows the story of a group trying to find their way back to civilization. Matt Calder (Robert Mitchum) has recently been released from prison after serving time for killing a man as he was defending another. He finds his 10-year-old son, Mark (Tommy Retig), in the care of a singer, Kay (Marilyn Monroe). Harry Weston (Rory Calhoun) is Kay's gambler fianc''e. He informs Kay that they must go to Council City to file a deed on a gold mine that he acquired during a card game. Harry and Kay decide to take a raft to Council City.
