Ringers: Lord of the Fans is a 2004 documentary directed by Carlene Cordova. The film examines the influence that "The Lord of the Rings" has had on contemporary culture over the last 50 years. Narrated by one of the stars of Lord of the Rings, Dominic Monaghan, the film covers the initial impact of the original novel in the 1950s, and how counter-culture icons in the 60s and 70s identified with both the story line and characters. With one on one interviews with actors and artists including Peter Jackson, Ian McKellen, Clive Barker and Cameron Crowe, the true impact of J.R.R. Tolkien's masterpiece continues to reverberate through contemporary society. The film also includes a cameo appearance by Leonard Nimoy (Mr. Spock in Star Trek) performing The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins. The documentary was nominated for Best DVD Release in 2006 at the Saturn Awards and won the award for Outstanding Achievement in a Documentary at the 2005 Newport Beach Film Festival.MORE[EDIT]
