Richard Pryor: Here and Now is the legendary stand-up comedian's seventh and final concert film. Pryor performs with the exuberance and creativity that propelled him to super-stardom throughout the 1970s. The performance was held at the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans and includes many of his most famous routines. These routines include “I Met the President,” where Pryor recalls meeting Ronald Reagan, as well as routines about the modern South and drug abuse. This show was the second time Pryor performed since his near-fatal, drug-related accident in 1980. Pryor spent two years in recovery. In 1982, he returned to the stage clean and sober to film Richard Pryor: Live on the Sunset Strip, after which he announced his retirement from stand-up. His retirement didn't last long. A year later, Pryor had too much new material to stay away from performance, and the resulting show became Richard Pryor: Here and Now.MORE[EDIT]
