Recount

Recount is a 2008 docudrama that recreates the dramatic 2000 election and the Bush vs. Gore case. The film covers the 36-day battle between Democrats and Republicans to count the votes in Florida all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court. Republican James Baker (Tom Wilkinson) works on rallying public support, while Ben Ginsberg (Bob Balaban) wages the legal battles. Meanwhile, Democrat Ron Klain (Kevin Spacey) stands up for Gore to make sure every hanging chad on every ballot gets counted properly. Secretary of State Katherine Harris (Laura Dern) becomes a fixture on national television while taking calls from her Governor Jeb Bush (Matt Miller). Washington power brokers William Christopher (John Hurt) and David Boles (Ed Begley Jr.) work behind closed doors as the American public waits for a final determination from Chief Justice William Rehnquist (Terry Loughlin).
