Ready? OK!

Ready? OK! is a 2008 comedy directed by James Vasquez. Andrea Dowd (Carrie Preston) faces all the typical challenges of a single mother, but her son Josh (Lurie Poston) introduces her to questions and issues she has never stopped to consider before. When he was a baby, Andrea assumed her little boy would grow up to love sports, cars and action movies. Instead, at ten years old, Josh loves nothing more than focusing on fashion and cheerleading. As a student at a Catholic school, Josh meets resistance and confusion at every turn. Sister Vivian (Tara Karsian) is not sure whether Josh should be allowed on the cheerleading squad or not, and his classmates are uncertain how to react to a boy who likes feminine things. Andrea tries to respect her son for who he is, even when she privately dreams of a traditionally masculine son. Their journey together forces Andrea to face important questions about gender.
