Random Hearts

Random Hearts is a 1999 drama about two people who learn that their late spouses were involved in an extramarital affair. Cullen Chandler (Peter Coyote) and Peyton Van Den Broeck (Susanna Thompson) are conducting a clandestine romantic affair when their plane crashes and both perish. Shortly thereafter, their spouses, Dutch Van Den Broeck (Harrison Ford) and Kay Chandler (Kristin Scott Thomas), realize that Cullen and Peyton have been cheating on them. Determined to discover the truth, the two become close as they compare notes and come to understand the magnitude of their respective spouses' betrayal. At the same time, Dutch and Kay begin to develop feelings for each other. Given that Dutch is a respected police officer and Kay is running for Congress, the relationship quickly becomes problematic. Though they have been brought together under the worst possible circumstances, both must face the choice of whether they should pursue a romantic relationship with each other or return to their former lives and forget about the other.
